The challenge
Temporary workers are driven from their homes to changing work locations and picked up again after their shift. Which driver ran which route depended on manual work in the planning, while the staffing changes every day. Every change to the schedule meant solving the puzzle all over again.
The solution
The trip planning is calculated from the actual staffing: who lives where, where that person works that day, and when the shift starts and ends. When the staffing changes, the trips move with it without anyone laying out the puzzle again.
